Synopses:

Episode One, BEIJING. Beijing is home to over 40 unicorn startup companies valued over $1 billion. In this megacity, cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data are mutually complementary to market demand-led innovative ideas, which have inspired the birth of some well-known startups like Xiaomi and Mobike. These companies have been influencing graduates of China’s top universities, creating a favorable atmosphere for starting businesses in the country.

Episode Two, YANGTZE DELTA. Jordan visits the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone, Shanghai in particular. This area has been the birthplace of China’s automobile manufacturing, commerce, finance and fashion industries. Riding the wave of mobile Internet and building on the sound industrial foundation, entrepreneurs in the zone employ the world’s state-of-the-art technologies, such as computer vision, blockchain, and nanomaterials, to explore new possibilities for traditional areas, and to solve the problems arising from urban development of the zone.

Episode Three, PEARL RIVER DELTA. Since the launch of the reform and opening-up policy, the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone, notably Shenzhen and Guangzhou, has been a world-renowned factory. At present, the patents granted in the zone each year has outnumbered that in the Silicon Valley of the United States. The zone is shifting from the center of “Made in China” into the heart of “Design by China”. With the highly developed manufacturing industry and a full-fledged industry chain, it has become a magnet for aspiring entrepreneurs from across the world. The companies here represent the cutting edge in the world’s development in such areas as drones, artificial intelligence, precision medicine, and virtual reality.
